The Online Reading Groups associated at Book
Clique Cafe - readinggroupsonline.com work very much like the conventional
book clubs and reading groups that have risen in popularity the last few
years. As you probably know, conventional reading groups are formed (often
through a bulletin board at a book store or library) by people with similar
reading interests. These groups meet regularly and group members come prepared
to discuss the book or topic that was selected. We have simply taken the real
life concept and configured it for Online use in Cyberspace,The Internet.
EACH Group is Member Driven...that
is to say they are "created" and "maintained" by reading
group leaders with an appreciation of a given book topic.
EACH Group considers their own
content and reading decisions, along with membership restrictions due to age
and behavior. The group determines the direction and policies of that
individual group.
Privacy Policy for Associated Groups
(With Group Pages):
In this community of online reading groups, we have requested ALL Groups to
consider the privacy of their members a high priority!
We suggest they use bcc
(blind copy) in their email communications when providing a mass email to the
group.
We suggest that they do
not spam members with unsolicited or unrelated mail.
We suggest they do
not sell their mailing lists to any commercial endeavor without
individual member agreement.
We suggest that any listserv
should be voluntary and members should be able to retain reading options
which they are comfortable with. Listserv's such as E-group at Yahoo have
various personal preferences that can be applied by the member.
